Jesus shared this parable: “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come’” (Luke 19:12-13).
When I started working for Lutherans For Life last summer, one of the first things I wanted to do was to lead servant events for youth. There is something special about taking youth out of their comfort zones and introducing them to service opportunities. It creates bonds of friendship between the participants and has a lasting impact on their future decisions and attitudes about serving others.
Nothing is quite so inevitable or constant as change. Nothing is quite so important or treasured as tradition.

An international team of scientists appears to have cloned human embryos for the purpose of embryonic stem cell research. Lutherans For Life (LFL) reiterates its opposition to human cloning. Cloning is not the creation of life by the hands of God, but the production of human life by the hands of man. God creates life so that we might serve Him. Cloning produces life with the intent of destroying it to serve man.
“Before this weekend, my perspective was ‘I am not here to judge, I can’t tell them “you’re wrong …”’ When I saw the look on the face of a girl leaving Planned Parenthood, it hit me, ‘this is happening. This is wrong …’ Now I realize that this is crazy, babies don’t deserve this.”
Somehow it seems insufficient just to make a statement that Lutherans For Life is “pleased with the guilty verdict in the Gosnell trial” as if it is now over and we can move on.
The Ascension of Our Lord reminds us our reigning King also sent His Spirit and remains among His people.
I would like to join president Obama in praying that God would bless Planned Parenthood, but keeping this in mind—God not only blesses, He decides what blessings are. For example, sickness is a great blessing when God works through it to renew or strengthen our faith or the faith of others who care for us. So with this in mind, wouldn’t it be a blessing if:
