A Prayer for All Mothers
“[D]o not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6 ESV).

Lord, Your Word tells us to be anxious for nothing, but instead to bring everything to You in prayer. And so, we pray for mothers everywhere. Some mothers know You as their Savior and Lord. Others do not know You. We ask for Your forgiveness when we fail to do Your will. We pray for Your Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of those who do not know You and give strength to those who do. Help Christian mothers everywhere live faithful lives as they serve, care for others, and share their faith in today’s world. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Prayer of a Pregnant Woman
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5 ESV).

Heavenly Father, I’m pregnant and excited about this baby, but I’m also a little scared. Please calm my fears. Bless me and the baby growing inside me. Keep us both healthy. Forgive me for my sins and help my faith grow. Help me become a faithful mom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Prayer of a Young Mother
Lord God, what a precious gift You have given me, a young daughter to care for and love. She is so cute as she discovers her fingers and toes. I watched her turn over the other day for the first time, and thought how wonderful You have created her, both body and soul. Thank You for life. She sleeps so peacefully and she trusts me to care for her. Help me learn to trust You more and experience the peace that passes all understanding. Also give me patience and strength as I serve You through motherhood. Forgive my sins every day and grant me increased faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Prayer of a Mother with Children
Lord Jesus, my life is really hectic with my children. My life is so consumed with caring for them that I don’t always have time for myself or You. Help me take time to study Your Word and learn to deal appropriately with all the challenges of life with young children. Give me an extra special measure of love so I can care for these precious young children that You gave me. Thank You for the gift of these children and help me care for their daily needs with patience that comes only from You. Amen.

The Prayer of a Mother with a “Tweenager”
Dear Lord, I am so blessed to have my child, whom I love so much. I think of the fact that You willingly gave up Your Son, Jesus, so I could have forgiveness and everlasting life with You, and I can’t comprehend Your love for me. Thank You for the grace and forgiveness that is new every morning. Thank You for my child. Help me teach him Christian values and bring him up to serve and love You. Give me grace and peace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Prayer of a Mother with a Teenager
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV).

Lord Jesus, My teenager is exposed to many people and things that can be dangerous. Sometimes I’m afraid. Calm my fears and help me trust you more. I have tried to faithfully teach her about You as we sat in our home and as we walked along the way. Now, I pray, continue to keep her safe and protect her from all dangers of body, mind, and spirit. Forgive us when we fail You for Jesus sake. In Your Name. Amen.

The Prayer of a Mother of Grown Children
Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your love and forgiveness won for us through the suffering, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. And I thank You for my two grown children. They are a blessing to me and my husband. Help them continue to remain close to You and stay faithful to their baptism vows all the days of their life. Bless them and keep them in Your care. Amen.

The Prayer of a Mother who is also a Grandmother
Lord God, Thank You for our children and their faithfulness to their children and spouses. Keep their families in Your care and continue to bless and guide their steps. Help them do your will. Amen. For “this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever” (Psalm 48:14 ESV).

A Mother’s Prayer (from Not Alone)

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know it is Your good plan that children have a mommy and a daddy. But for now, I, alone, am responsible for parenting this precious child. When I am uncertain about choices in life, show me Your faith and fill me with Your presence (Psalm 16).

When I am anxious, guard my heart and mind (Philippians 4:4-9).

When I am afraid, wipe my fears away (Romans 8:31-39).

When I grow tired and discouraged as a mother, fill me with the fruits of Your Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23a) and help me not to give up (6:9).

When I am tempted as a woman, remind me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

When I am confused about love, help me to know Your perfect love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

When my child needs a Father’s example, show Yourself (Psalm 10:14; 2 Corinthians 6:18).

When I am worried for my child and myself, be the Father we both need (Matthew 6:25-34).

When I fail, forgive me (1 John 2:12) and help me start over.

When I begin to wonder if You really care, take away all my doubts (Psalm 103).

Help me to be a woman of noble character (Proverbs 31) and a mother whose love is made real in all I say and do.

Amen.
