LFL of Iowa President Karen Frohwein (and former director of development) has been named recipient of this year’s Annette Nielsen Memorial Breast Cancer Golf Tournament Funds. The following is from the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center Foundation:

The MMSC Foundation and MMSC Diagnostic Imaging will host the 13th Annual Annette Nielsen Memorial Breast Cancer Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 21, 2011. The tournament is named after 29-year-old Annette Nielsen, an MMSC Radiology Tech, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2000. Pledging to keep her memory alive, the MMSC Foundation and MMSC Diagnostic Imaging department direct all funds raised from the tournament to a community member currently fighting breast cancer. “I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2008 through a routine mammogram at MMSC Diagnostic Imaging. An ultrasound and biopsy were also done at MMSC to confirm the diagnosis. I had a mastectomy of the left breast in March, 2008 and doctors believed all of the cancer was removed. My doctor prescribed a 5-year plan of the drug, Tamoxifen, to prevent any cancer cells from growing. ivermectin carpet python I also had a DIEP Flap breast reconstruction in 2008.

“In September 2010, again following a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy at MMSC Diagnostic Imaging, it was determined that my breast cancer had recurred in the same breast. I again had a mastectomy, removing the reconstructed breast and surrounding tissue, and again it appears I am  cancer free. However, because of the size of the tumor and the likelihood of recurrence, my oncologist recommended a treatment plan of 8 chemotherapy treatments followed by radiation. As of this writing, I have finished my chemotherapy and will begin radiation in the next few weeks. ivermectin ​cattle (bovine), sheep, goats, pigs (swine) and poultry. ​
