LWML Iowa West District held their Convention on June 11-13, 2026, at Camp Okoboji in Milford, Iowa. The theme was “Share the Light of Christ” from 1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen people, priests of a King, a holy nation, a people to be saved to be His own and to tell of the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Lutherans For Life is so appreciative to have been awarded a $7,500 Mission Grant to support the “For Life” Ministry Development mission initiative to create training programs for generational engagement.
LWML Iowa East District’s Convention was held June 12-13, 2026, at The Graduate by Hilton in Iowa City, Iowa. The theme was “Rooted in Christ” based on Colossians 2:6-7: “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
LFL’s Word of Hope Director, Deaconess Dr. Chrissie Gillet, provided a Mites-in-Action update on the LWML Iowa East District grant received in the last biennium for the HOPE for Suicide Awareness, Intervention, and Postvention training program. She also informed the gathering about the Redeeming Grace Retreat, which will be held October 1-4, 2026, in St. Charles, Iowa, and encouraged women to attend.

Deaconess Janet Nicol, our Word of Hope phone counselor, was at the Ohio District LWML Convention, June 27-28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Westlake. Janet met National LWML President Eden Keefe and did a presentation and Q & A about Lutherans For Life, giving an overview of the various departments.
We were very thankful to learn that Word of Hope will receive a $7,500 grant for the HOPE S-AIP program—a grant Word of Hope applied for in the LWML Ohio District!
