Happy Father’s Day
“The Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in” (Proverbs 3:12).
The Heavenly Father has us behold God in the face of Dad.
Fathers mediate the compassion and power of the Almighty Maker.
He has designed us to need meaningful connection to the male parent, and even the best mother will not make a suitable substitute.
Dad serves the Lord by supporting us, and the Lord keeps hold of us with Dad’s arms.
Fatherhood conveys God’s goodness to everyone:
- He lifts and laughs.
- He commits and entrusts.
- He listens and invests.
- He gets and gives.
- He explores and investigates.
- He instructs and confronts.
- He decides and drives.
- He plays and celebrates.
- He risks and sacrifices.
- He salvages and solves.
Dads from the very beginning inspire in us the delightful desire to protect and provide for someone besides ourselves.
