Rev. Michael Eschelbach

God made humanity in His image and the essence of His image is the relationship of the family. Together we will consider biblical texts and models of design that help us recognize and recover the blessedness of God’s creative work among us.

Michael Eschelbach was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree, from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a Master of Divinity degree in 1985, and from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, completing the Doctor of Philosophy degree in August of 1998. He served parishes in Billings, Montana, and Sandusky, Michigan, from 1985 until 2000. Dr. Eschelbach was a professor of theology at Concordia University Chicago for 14 years before coming to Concordia University Irvine in 2014. He teaches a wide range of classes including Hebrew and Old Testament studies, Greek and New Testaments studies, Hermeneutics, World Religions, Systematic theology, and the Philosophy of Religion. He is the author of five books, has contributed to many books and published several articles. Dr. Eschelbach has four children and one granddaughter. He lives in Irvine with his wife, Emily.
