I will never forget the first Vision Tour I took at our local CompassCare pregnancy center in Buffalo, New York. As the staff explained how they treat the women (and men) who walk through their doors, I was truly amazed by the way these nurses listen to, care for, and have compassion for their patients. And just as important, they share the Gospel of Jesus Christ—saving souls for eternity! In just the first half of this year, 78 babies have been saved from abortion, and 62 women have received Christ here in the greater Buffalo area. Talk about “Gospel-motivated voices For Life”! No wonder they are well on their way to reducing area abortions by 50% in five years by reducing the need for abortion.
Then came another event that I will never forget. During the early morning hours of June 7, 2022, CompassCare was firebombed by Jane’s Revenge, causing extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the building.
But, like the story of Joseph and his brothers, what Jane’s Revenge meant for harm, God intended for good—and the saving of many lives! The following day, the life of an innocent preborn baby was saved through the work of CompassCare, and they were able to continue their life-saving work at an undisclosed location during the weeks ahead while in the process of rebuilding.
Then, using a devotion based upon the story of Nehemiah rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem in 52 days, CompassCare held their grand re-opening celebration just 52 days after the firebombing! In addition to restoring and improving the existing building, CompassCare is now expanding the building by one third to serve more patients more effectively!
As you probably know, with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the fastest growing part of the abortion industry is online. Women are getting abortion pills over the internet and having their abortions at home. Therefore, CompassCare is launching a nationwide online platform and is giving away 21st century tools to support 650 pregnancy centers to reach and serve every woman in America considering abortion before she buys abortion pills online or perhaps travels to another state for an abortion. God has expanded CompassCare’s outreach beyond the state of New York!
1 Peter 3:12 tells us, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” God has heard the prayers of His people and blessed CompassCare in ways only He can! We praise and thank God for what He has done and ask that He continue to provide for and protect the workers at CompassCare as they serve women in need.
