Our Savior Lutheran Church (OSL), Houston, Texas, hosted a For Life event organized by Houston Lutherans For Life (HLFL) on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Six pastors presented topics focused on the theme Preparing For Forever to 286 people in attendance. The speakers were:
- Pastor Laurence White (Our Savior, Houston): Life in a Culture of Death
- Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller (St. Paul, Austin): Celebrating Life All the Way to the End
- Pastor Robert Paul (Memorial, Houston): Christian Burial Practices
- Pastor Kelly Krieg (Bethlehem, William Penn): God’s Word at the End: How Liturgy Brings Comfort to the Dying
- Pastor Ryan Ogrodowicz (Grace, Brenham): Angels, Demons, and Death
- Pastor Michael Salemink (Lutherans For Life): Going Gracefully: A Better End-of-Life Approach Than Assisted Suicide
People traveled from as far away as Keller, Texas, as well as Waco, Bryan/ College Station, Austin, and Navasota. Numerous Houston-area churches were represented. It was a great outreach opportunity for OSL with 60 people taking advantage of the optional sanctuary tour at the end of the conference.
Houston Coalition For Life and Lutherans For Life had display tables at the event to make people aware of their services.
As a member chapter of Lutherans For Life, HLFL strives to give a Gospel-motivated witness to the Church on all pro-life related issues. This conference focused on end-of-life issues and how, as Christians, we are called to compassionate action.
