“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness …’ So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them” (Genesis 1:26-28).
The truth that all humankind is created in the image of God is foundational to everything we believe at Lutherans For Life. One of the valuable tools we use to share that belief is the set of fetal models that we take with us everywhere: to churches, schools, conferences, and seminars. Through Owen’s Mission, we donate these models to Lutheran schools and even to Lutheran churches in other countries whenever possible. We always look for opportunities to share the truth that the unborn child is a unique person created by God: in His image, on purpose, and for His purpose!
“You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well …” (Psalm 139:13-14).
Lutherans For Life was recently invited to have a display table at the Institute of Creation Research (ICR), in Dallas, Texas, as part of their “Made in His Image” seminar. Doctors Barb (LFL Assistant Director of Volunteer Relations) and Jim Geistfeld had an extra set of fetal models with them and donated them to the Discovery Center.
Mr. Chris Kinman, Director of the Discovery Center at ICR writes: “Thank you again for donating the baby models to ICR. We look forward to using them in the future at our Made in His Image/pro-life events. They are a great tool to show people the truths of what God has created and how these precious little ones develop in their mother’s womb … At the Institute for Creation Research, we want you to know God’s Word can be trusted with everything it speaks about—from how and why we were made, to how the universe was formed, to how we can know God and receive all He has planned for us.”
We praise God for this chance to share the sanctity of life with others. We pray that many people will see these models and grasp the truth that all human beings, from fertilization to forever, are created in the image of God, redeemed by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus, and precious in His sight.
