Pastor Ricky Jacob serves at Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Outreach, Winnebago, Nebraska.
This morning three men rode into Winnebago on bikes. They were on a ride that would cover over 200 miles from South Sioux City to Brownville, Nebraska. Along the way they stopped at our church for a break and some refreshments.
These men were riding on behalf of Lutherans for Life. You might wonder what this organization is all about. Lutherans For Life strive to affirm that each human life is created and gifted by God, that each human life is someone for whom Jesus Christ died, and that each human life is someone the Holy Spirit desires to call into an eternal relationship with Him. Would you agree with such a statement regarding human life?
Each human life from conception through one’s final breath is of value to our Creator. The first male and the first female were created in the image of God. Sadly they rebelled against their Creator. This rebellion brought suffering and death to them, to their offspring ~ including us, and to all creation.
Yet the Creator still values life, all of life. This includes those who have made bad choices and are in need of having one’s life restored with his or her Creator. This is the very reason that the Son of God, Jesus, came down to earth. He came in order to take on flesh and blood, to suffer and die in order that each and every life would be redeemed. His unconditional and undying love moved Him to be a fragrant sacrifice and to forgive sin.
You can by grace receive His offer through faith, or you can leave it and allow the consequences of your dark ways to remain on you.
Each and every Sunday the Good News of Jesus is taught and proclaimed. Sunday school and Bible study at 10 a.m. These are followed by a Divine Service in which God serves us through the hearing of His Sacred Word and the distribution of His blessings through His sacraments.
The message of Lutherans For Life is the heart changing truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their primary message is “Here is what God has done that gives value and dignity to all human life.” The three men, along with the driver of their support van, rode out of town. However their message remains here. You see, their message is our message at Jesus Our Savior Lutheran Outreach, Church and School.
