SUMMARY:For Life Live – Critical Race Theory and the Sanctity of Life
DESCRIPTION:Our Guest: Rev. Dr. Lucas V. Woodford \nTuesday\, August 17\, 2021 – 7:00 p.m. CDT / 8:00 p.m. EDT \nRegister in advance for this meeting:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZErcOuvqjksG93dAWRXEhoCtFF1qX_zJ3pv \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \nCritical Race Theory is an academic and philosophical discipline now mainstreamed in multiple segments of American culture. Public schools and higher education\, the broader American business world and marketplace\, as well as progressive politics are all inundated by it. However\, it’s also impacting the life of congregations and their members. As Christians\, we want to know how to fight against the sin of racism\, love our neighbor\, uphold biblical justice and the sanctity of all human life\, all while not letting a dangerous ideology sabotage our trust in Jesus Christ and His Word of truth. \nThis presentation will address: \n\nThe ideological foundations of Critical Race Theory\nThe ironic racism in the theory (how it does not value the sanctify of all life)\nHow it functions as a new religion\nHow Lutherans have a clear alternative: A robust theology of faith and love that upholds the sanctify of all life and leads us forward into action\n\nLucas V. Woodford\, MDiv\, STM\, DMin is President of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and the Associate Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church\, Farmington\, Minnesota. \nPastor Woodford is the author of Great Commission\, Great Confusion\, or Great Confession? (Wipf & Stock\, 2012). He is co-author with Harold Senkbeil of Pastoral Leadership: for the Care of Souls (2nd ed Lexham Press\, 2021) and their book on contextual mission\, Culture of the Word\, is forthcoming from Lexham in 2022. He has written numerous articles published in The Lutheran Witness\, Logia\, and Seelsorger. \nWoodford is a member of the Board of Regents of Concordia University\, St. Paul\, Minnesota. He has served as an adjunct instructor for Concordia Theological Seminary\, Fort Wayne\, Indiana\, and the Institute of Lutheran Theology in Brookings\, South Dakota. \nDr. Woodford is a Fellow in the Collegium of DOXOLOGY: The Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel\, charged with research\, writing and speaking regarding the care of souls in the contemporary context. He is a frequently invited presenter on matters related to soul care\, missiology\, marriage\, sex and gender issues\, and critical race theory.
