Speakers Bureau - John Eidsmoe

Possible topics include:

Institute on the Constitution. A series of lectures on the basic beliefs of the Founding Fathers, events leading up to the Constitutional Convention, an analysis of the Declaration of Independence and its relationship to the Constitution, the Constitution itself phrase-by-phrase, and the dangers to constitutional government today.

The Heritage of Our Common Law. Ancient legal systems in Asia, Africa, Europe, North & South America; the Laws of the Ancient Hebrews; the Classical Systems of Greece and Rome; rise of the common law with its Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Norman, and Biblical influences.

Defending Your Faith! Apologetics for the Christian Layman. The role of apologetics and its relationship to evangelism; ways of approaching truth; forms of apologetics; principles of logic and evidence; the art of persuasion.

Right to Life. Lectures that can stand alone or form a series. A Biblical View of Abortion, carefully analyzing the many Biblical passages that establish that human life begins at conception and that abortion is the wrongful taking of human life. The Case Against Roe v. Wade; demonstrating why Roe v. Wade is a constitutional travesty and why it should be overruled. A Winnable War; pro-life strategies that can win! Preachers & Politics: What Does the IRS Allow? What churches can do without jeopardizing their 501(c)(3) status. Pro-Life Activism Within Luther's Two Kingdoms Theology. A Lutheran Lawyer Looks at the Culture Wars.

Daniel: God's Man for All Seasons. The historical/political setting of the Book of Daniel; its authorship; chapters 1-6 with special emphasis on Daniel as a role model for believers living in a pagan society; overview of chapters 7-12; the Messiah the Prince prophecy of Chapter 9.

Christian Statesmen. Biographical sketches of leading American Founding Fathers, with special emphasis on their character traits and religious beliefs.

God & Government. A Biblical view of government; the two Kingdoms (Church & State); our duty to government; a Biblical perspective on issues such as abortion, war and military service, crime and punishment, economics, social responsibility, education, and others.

Islam & the Crusades. The rise of Islam; the tenets of Islam; the pillars of Islam; Islamic law. The rise of Christian Europe; the Christian concept of just war and holy war; events leading up to the Crusades; what happened during the Crusades; the legacy of the Crusades. Colonel Eidsmoe believes the Crusades (but not everything that took place during the Crusades) are defensible as just warfare in response to Islamic expansion and aggression.

The Apostles' Creed. Why we have creeds; the origin of the Apostles' Creed; a phrase by phrase explanation of the history, meaning, Scriptural support, and application of the Creed.

The Book of Hebrews. A chapter-by-chapter exposition with practical applications.

Here I Stand! Biblical Worldview for a New Millennium. What is truth?; Authority of Scripture; Who is God?; Law and Gospel; Creation/Evolution; Worldview Specific Topics.

John Eidsmoe (AFLC) is a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel and Alabama State Defense Force Colonel, Headquarters Judge Advocate, Deputy Chaplain and Training Officer. He is Professor Emeritus of Constitutional Law Emeritus at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama, where his students have twice given him the Outstanding Professor Award, and serves as Senior Staff Attorney at the Alabama Supreme Court. He is an ordained pastor with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations and a constitutional attorney who has defended home schools, Christian schools, the right of students to study the Bible in public schools, and the right of public officials to display the Ten Commandments. He has authored 13 books and numerous audio and video lecture series. He holds six academic degrees in law, theology and political science, as well as graduating from the Air Command & Staff College and the Air War College. A Third Degree Black Belt with the American Taekwondo Foundation, Colonel Eidsmoe serves as Alabama Representative for the Gospel Martial Arts Union, is an avid horseman and skier. He and his wife Marlene have been married since 1970, have three children (David, Kirsten, and Justin) and live in rural Pike Road, Alabama.

  • Airfare/Mileage: Actual airfare and/or current standard IRS mileage rate to airport or event.

  • Lodging: Quiet non-smoking hotel room.

  • Honorarium: As an affiliated speaker for Lutherans For Life, John Eidsmoe is not in a paid position. Therefore, we ask that sponsoring groups provide an extra honorarium for Col. Eidsmoe. The sponsoring group determines the amount of the honorarium. Honorariums depend on number of events. Honorariums begin at $200.

  • Meals: $25 per day unless other arrangements are made.

  • Other: A lectern will be needed. A TV and VCR and/or an overhead projector and screen may be needed. (This will vary depending on the presentation.)
