Thanks for the Victory

I could not think of a better verse for a Lutherans For Life Thanksgiving message than this:

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV

LFL promotes living in the victory “For Life” that Christ gives. We need not live in defeatism or despair when the purveyors of death seem to win. We live in the victory Christ has already won over death! Thanks be to God!

LFL promotes rejoicing in the victory “For Life” that Christ gives. We need not live with a negative, gloomy attitude as if we trudge along in an uphill battle. Christ’s victory over death gives us the greatest, most positive, joy-filled message in the universe! Thanks be to God!

LFL promotes proclaiming the victory “For Life” that Christ gives. We do not proclaim a message so that victory “For Life” can be won. We proclaim a message of a victory “For Life” already won! This message from the Word of Life gives hope for those struggling with the issues of life. Thanks be to God!

And for all of you who live, rejoice, and proclaim this message with us—thanks be to God!

May you and your families have a blessed Thanksgiving, and may all of us as God’s people join first and foremost in praying, “Thanks for the Victory.”
