CREATION - God Made All Things –
Imagine the opportunity - tour a grand masterpiece alongside its Creator; hear
the Artist describe and explain what He has made. Creation makes 15 stops in
God’s gallery to comment on what He has made through selected words from the
book He made, the Holy Bible. Discover that even though the material world is
beautiful and good, the invisible world is often more wonderful and precious.
A wonderful read! Rev. David Lau (Church of the Lutheran Confession) wrote, “I
recommend this little book on creation as a welcome addition to every church
library and the library of every Christian. We pray that all the many Christians
in danger of being taken in by man’s complicated evolutionary hypotheses might
rather hold to the simple teachings of the Bible as summarized in this book.”
Papercover. 176 pages. By Cleone H. Weigand, who has served as a parish pastor
for 40 years and is a member of the Lutheran Science Institute.
Item 202B. $10.99 ea.

The Faith of Unborn Children
is a witness to the value of children before birth and a call for a return to
that historic Christian concern for the preservation of such valuable life. The
author, Johann Georg Walch, was a professor of exegesis, philosophy, and
theology at Jena, Germany, and is, perhaps, best known for editing an edition of
Luther’s
works which later became the St. Louis edition (“Walch 2”). The style of his
theological argument is one which our American Lutheran forebears, such as H.H.
Muhlenberg and C.F.W. Walther, knew well. For more details click

Implementing a Pro-Life
Theology in a Lutheran Congregation
–
Dr. David L. Adams
says it is time for the Church to put its
pro-life convictions into action! Dr. Adams say that unless our congregations take action that
makes those convictions a part of the way we do our ministry work, “we shall
cease to be a pro-life church body within a generation.” This booklet
outlines the three basic needs: (1) a plan to teach the faith;
(2) a plan to care for people in need; and (3) a plan to witness publicly to the
teachings of God’s Word.
Item 208B. $0.75 ea.

A Love for Life – Christianity's
Consistent Support of the Unborn, by Dennis Di Mauro, examines the
question, "Is abortion ethical?" The answer to this question is often
obscured by rhetoric, slogans, and politics. And the media message on
abortion is often of little help. When the typical American opens up her
morning newspaper, she sees the topic debated between pro-lifers and
pro-choicers but receives little information that could help her make an
informed moral decision. And as she reads further about the subject, it
seems that the Christian church, often an ethical guide in many of her
decisions, is of no use to her. Sadly, she is told that the church is
just as divided as the rest of society on the topic. So our average
American is left to fend for herself. She must somehow decide the right
answer with little guidance from society, from the church, or even from
God himself.
Has God been silent on the abortion
question? Has the church really shown a diversity of opinion on the
sanctity of life?
A Love for Life will provide
Christians with the biblical and historical information that they need
to make an informed decision on the abortion question. It will also take
a critical and biblically-based look at the arguments and theologies of
today's most prominent pro-choice clergy. And it will determine if
abortion really fulfills the will of God, as many pro-choice Christians
believe, or whether abortion is a clearly sinful act. In short, readers
of A Love for Life will discover the real message of the church
on abortion.

Speak Up For Life - "Speak Up!" That's
what Lutherans For Life encourages God's people to do! It is tragically true
that too often the Church, as a whole, has failed to speak up For Life or has
done so weakly. It is also especially disappointing since God Himself has never
been silent when it comes to life. This booklet takes a look at life issues
based on Luther's Small Catechism—and is sized to insert right into the
catechism itself! Does the catechism have anything to say about life? Yes!

Abortion and the Message of the Church:
Sin or Salvation? – Dr. James Lamb shows that throughout history the
Church has called abortion sin. Only recently have some started calling abortion
salvation—a way out of a difficult situation (but it is not a way out). It only
creates guilt and despair to which the Church must apply its most powerful
message, the Gospel of Jesus. Item 205T. $0.25 ea.

This brochure is also available in Braille free of charge.

Broken Walls - Christians say it too, “I’m
personally opposed to abortion, but . . .” A lack of understanding of what
abortion is and what abortion does leads to such thinking. One of the reasons
for the lack of understanding is that many in the Church whitewash the truth
about abortion. Some do it actively and whitewash abortion with religiously nice
sounding words. Others do it passively and whitewash abortion with religious
silence.

Sidestepping Sin? –
"It is time that the leadership in the Church re-examine
the Scriptures and return to a biblical standard of right and wrong. It is time
that we talk about personal sin, responsibility, and the need for repentance,"
says Pastor Thomas Parrish. "When we are willing to come honestly before the
Lord with our personal sin, then we can speak openly about the problem of sin."
Also
included in this brochure is A Voice for Truth by Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb.
"The Word of Life speaks to the value God gives to every human life. The Word of
Life speaks of forgiveness and healing for those who have sinned against life.
The Word of Life speaks of a loving God who is present and at work in the
difficult circumstances of our lives. What a positive truth we have to share!
What a positive voice we can be! What a positive influence we can have on the
Church and on society."

What About . . . Abortion – This brochure was
developed to answer a number of questions about abortion: What does God’s Word
say about abortion? If abortion is legal in the United States, how can the
Church oppose it? Why is the Church involving itself in a personal decision? Has
the Christian church always been opposed to abortion? Why do some churches take
a weak position on abortion? Isn’t abortion acceptable in the case of rape or
incest? What can we do for people considering abortion? How can the Church
minister to those who have had an abortion? There is also a listing of a number
of helpful materials. By Rev. Dr. Alvin L. Barry.

Women, Abortion, and the Church: Responsibilities
and Rights – Using situation ethics, even some Christians conclude that
abortion is the compassionate solution—the lesser of two evils. Why, asks author
Dr. Jean
Garton, should we offer a woman an evil of any sort?

The Miracle of the Incarnation
– The path to the cross did not begin in Bethlehem
but in Nazareth! March 25 is the most appropriate time to celebrate
the Incarnation. God became man at Jesus’ conception in Mary.
Since our beginnings were sinful (Psalm 51:5), Jesus had to take our
place from that very moment. Part of the redemptive process was for
Jesus to pass through all stages of our development. What powerful
implications for the value of human life from the very beginning!
Jesus’ divinity and humanity at the moment of conception attest to
our humanity from that moment.

SPECIAL REPORTS |

An Analysis of the ELCA Social Statement on Abortion (SSOA)
– The acceptance of abortion in America and even in the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America (ELCA) is evidence that the high view of life, held and practiced by
Christians and defended by the church fathers and teachers down through the
centuries, is being forsaken. We offer this analysis with the prayer and hope
that it will cause those, especially in the Lutheran family, who support the
abortion ethic to prayerfully reflect and reconsider their views. We offer this
as encouragement to the many faithful believers and congregations within the ELCA who support the ethic of life that they will continue to pray, love, and
work for change.
