Healing Broken Hearts

A Conference Seminar for Professional Church Workers . . . from Lutherans For Life

Post Abortion Syndrome (PAS) is a very real, very burdensome syndrome that affects thousands of women and men in the aftermath of an abortion decision. Abortion is often seen as an “unforgivable sin.” Feelings of despair, guilt, and hopelessness abound. Many feel like the “Rachels” of Matthew 2:18 who were weeping and mourning and refusing to be comforted. But there is hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

The seminar is designed to:

Help professional church workers understand the nature, the scope, and the symptomology of PAS.

Provide insights into the pastoral care of those struggling with PAS.

Show how PAS provides opportunities to share the healing message of the Gospel.

Equip those who attend with resources to help them deal with PAS.

Provide information on outside resources in a local area.

The seminar outline is:

Hope for Broken Hearts - A theological grounding in the application of Law and Gospel to PAS.

Hearing from Broken Hearts - The nature, scope, and symptomology of PAS including video taped comments from post-abortive women.

Help for Broken Hearts - Practical helps and resources for those who are suffering from or dealing with PAS.

The seminar time frame is flexible. Somewhere between 4-6 hours would be needed. The presenters may include:

Linda Bartlett, former President of National Lutherans For Life

A representative from Lutherans For Life’s Word of Hope PAS program.

A representative from a local support agency if available.

One of the unfortunate consequences of over 3,000 abortions every day is that by the age of 45, 43% of all women in this country will have had at least one abortion. The women and men affected by an abortion decision are sitting in Lutheran pews. They should not be condemned. They should not be ignored. They should be ministered to.
